Lions fly past Bristol to take a convincing Tuesday night win in the BBL Championship.
London Lions 84-55 Bristol Flyers (19-13, 43-29, 59-45)
London Lions eased their way to a comfortable league success against Bristol Flyers as they took full advantage of the visitors below-par offensive output.
Having replenished their roster with the addition of two new faces in the form of Jonathon Thompson and Jerelle Okoro, Lions proved too strong for Flyers who suffered a minor dent to their Play-Off prospects.
Leading scorers – Peel 18, Dixon 13, Larkai 13 (Lions), Smith 17, Goodwin 15, Davis 9 (Flyers)
Turning point – The Lions put their foot on the gas late in the second quarter and once they built up a double-figure lead, they never looked back as Flyers struggled to recover.
Key stat – A couple of Flyers big hitters had off nights, with the usually reliable Mike Vigor and Brandon Boggs producing just 8 points between them. Lions also looked after the ball nicely with 11 turnovers compared to 22 for Bristol.
Game hero(es) – Cory Dixon and Brandon Peel both excelled. The former got Lions rolling early and finished with 13 points, 6 boards, 5 assists and 2 blocks. Meanwhile Peel was the main standout with a fine double-double of 18 points and 15 boards.
