Rocks win first game of their weekend double header at Emirates Arena
Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks 80-69 Manchester Giants (18-13,39-28,60-47)
Interim play-caller Vincent Lavandier has a first BBL Championship win at the helm under his belt after Rocks claimed victory against the visiting Giants in a game streamed live on the BBL YouTube channel.
The success had the added significance of giving Rocks the head to head against their rivals and also moving them into a precious top 8 spot as the race for the Play-Offs heats up.
Leading scorers – Kenny Carpenter 15, Tadas Rinkunas 13, Bo Zeigler 12, (Rocks); Willie Clayton 21, Mike McCall Jnr 18, Callum Jones 10, Torry Butler 10 (Giants)
Turning point – An 11-2 run for Rocks during the second period put them on the front foot and they had little cause to look back after that.
Key stat – The bench points for each team were significant, with Rocks claiming 32 compared to just 6 for a short-handed Giants.
Game hero – It was more of a balanced team effort by Rocks in this one, with perhaps a smart 12 points and 7 boards from Zeigler making him the pick of the bunch.
