London Lions head into the new season hungry for success as they aim for a first piece of silverware since 2008.
Last season: A historic second-place finish in the BBL Championship was followed by a run to the Play-Off Final at The O2, where they fell to Leicester Riders as the Lions found their form in the second half of the season. They also suffered Semi-Final defeats in both the Cup and Trophy competitions.
Back again: Reigning BBL league MVP Justin Robinson was quick to sign up for another season in his hometown and the Lions have retained the majority of last year’s roster. Brandon Peel continues his early pro career in the capital with Joe Ikhinmwin set for season six with the club. Dzaflo Larkai and Andre Lockhart provide plenty of experience with Jerelle Okoro, Abraham Ekperuoh and Jonathan James all looking for their chance to shine.
New faces: Kervin Bristol joins from Vytautas having faced the Lions in an exhibition game last season, while Ladarius Tabb arrives from a dominant season in Luxembourg. Jordan Spencer comes back to the Lions having starred in his four years away at Augustana University, winning a National Championship in the process.
Pre-Season: The Lions found success in the Essex Classic having defeated NBL D1 hosts, Essex Leopards as well as USA Select and the Vipers from Illinois. In their most recent outing on Saturday, Vince Macaulay’s side continued their preparations with a 121-72 success against Worthing Thunder.
Outlook: London were not far off from a first trophy in a decade and with the bulk of their roster retained, they will be hoping to mount another serious challenge for silverware.
