Bristol Flyers outlasted Plymouth Raiders, 87-75, to win a south-west derby on the opening weekend of the BBL Championship season for the third time in four years.
Flyers led by 21 points in the first half, but found themselves in arrears early in the fourth quarter before late heroics from new American swingman Rohndell Goodwin.

Turning Point – After Raiders had dominated the third quarter, and taken the lead early in the fourth, Flyers dug in to respond with a 12-2 run as Goodwin scored six points, making it 71-63 with six minutes to play. That after they had led 35-14 in the first half, when Brandon Boggs scored 12 points in 12 minutes.
Key Stat – Flyers scored 48 points in the paint, shooting 52% from two-point range, with the backcourt of Goodwin and Adam Weary getting to the basket and shooting a combined 16-21 (76%) two-pointers.
Game Hero – Rohndell Goodwin, on his BBL debut, scored 26 points on 71% shooting inside the arc, including 12 absolutely vital points in the fourth quarter.
