BBL Team of the Week #18

Cheshire Jets’ new recruit, Jerrah Young, made his first Team of the Week appearance, thanks to a confident performance against London Leopards in the BBL Trophy First Round. The American had 25 points and 14 rebounds, as well as 3 assists, 4 blocked shots and 2 steals as his side triumphed 99-57 over the EBL Division one team.

Frank Holmes joins him at the Forward position, with a 29 point haul in Marshall MK Lions win over Everton Tigers. He posted other numbers of 12/19 shooting from the field, 5/7 from the foul line, as well as grabbing 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks in his time on court, 33:05 minutes.

At Centre, is Team GB member Tafari ‘Tap’ Toney, who earned his place in Sheffield Sharks convincing 107-84 victory over Airwaves Plymouth Raiders on Friday evening. His 27 points came off 11/15 field goal shooting, he scored 5 out of 8 of his free throws, blocked 4 shots, and seized 11 boards.

At the point and shooting guard spots are Ryan Patton and Bradd Wierzbicki (picutured). Patton, who is in his first season as a Sheffield Shark having previously played at Worthing Thunder and Sheffield Arrows, has appeared regularly in the Team of the Week this season, and in the 100-105 win over his former club Worthing yesterday, the Youngstown State graduate had 26 points, knocking down five of his eight three point attempts and 7/8 from the free throw line.

Wierzbicki is the star of the show this week though, thanks to his 36 point haul as Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders beat Guildford Heat yesterday, with a scoreline of 92-87. The American, who has a Polish passport, shot 75% from behind the arc, and an outstanding 15/15 from the free throw line, as he returned to sparkling form.
