BBL Team of the Week #8

Last weekend was a surprising one in the BBL, as many teams had mixed results. The Everton Tigers beat PAWS London Capital before losing to Glasgow Rocks on Sunday, the Rocks themselves had gone down to Cheshire Jets in overtime the night before, and the Marshall MK Lions beat the Worthing Thunder 100-85 before losing 92-91 to the Worcester Wolves. The Capital were able to redeem themselves after Friday night's loss to Everton, by beating the Airwaves Plymouth Raiders 84-77. This meant double misery for the South Coast club, who lost 78-90 to the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders the night before. The Worcester Wolves also recovered from a loss to get a victory, as they lost 87-63 to Newcastle Eagles before beating the Lions the next evening. Finally, the Sharks kept up their explosive form by beating the Guildford Heat and Essex Pirates convincingly last weekend.

This week's Team of the Week is led by Wolves' guard Evaldas Zabas. In the win over the Lions, the Lithuanian finished with 30 points, on 9/10 field goal shooting and 2/3 from behind the arc. He also buried six of his seven attempts from the free throw line, and grabbed three steals to play a major part in the win.

At point guard this week is Tack Minor, who has appeared in the Team of the Week now on numerous occasions. The Louisiana State University graduate, who played in Mexico's top flight last season, dropped 31 points as well as dishing out 4 assists in the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders' victory over the Airwaves Plymouth Raiders on Friday night, 78- 90.

The Marshall MK Lions had some joy last weekend, as they comfortably beat the Worthing Thunder 100-85 on Friday night at home, and Frank Holmes' performance in this one earned him his place this week. The Forward posted 28 points on 10/14 shooting from open play, snagged 15 rebounds, hit his only three point attempt, and dished out three assists in just over 31 minutes of action.

Joining him at the Forward spot this week is the Glasgow Rocks' Mike Copeland, who notched 21 points, sunk four of his five free throws, and grabbed 12 boards, as well as two big blocks, in the Rocks' 84- 69 win over the Everton Tigers.

Finally at Centre, Skouson Harker makes his first appearance in the Team of the Week this season. The Canadian was also influential in the Wolves victory, as he second top scored to Zabas, with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Harker also nailed three of his five three point attempts as well as shooting 6/8 from the free throw line.
