England Basketball Player, Tayo Ogedengbe, Joins the New Heat Team

Guildford Heat has snapped up Tayo Ogedengbe for next season. Ogedengbe, who has been selected to play in England’s senior men’s team, is widely recognised as one of the most talented British players in the BBL league.  He is a former Under-20 team GB player and was one of the star players of the Heat last season.

According to the Heat’s head coach, Creon Raftopoulos, “Tayo is one of the most talented and athletic young players in England. We had to re-sign him quickly as a number of BBL teams were chasing him. He has huge potential and will play a key role in defence.  I am thrilled that he has signed a two year contract to remain with the club.

“I am still scouting for talent and will be building the team around Mike Martin. I am also hoping that Julius Joseph will give a consistently strong performance, having scored an average of 17.9 pts per game last season. I will be announcing some new additions to the team by the end of July.”

Tayo Ogedengbe added, “I am really excited about the new opportunities with the Heat. Last season, Creon coached a couple of sessions and I found his style of coaching really refreshing. I’m looking forward to working closely with him on a permanent basis.I feel that I can grow within the team and help the Heat to pursue its goals.

“Being selected as a player for the England men’s team has also helped me to develop my skills. We have already won our first two games and I am feeling confident for the season ahead, both as a player for England and for the Heat.”
