This week’s All-Star 5 is an eclectic mix following a week of Championship, Cup and Trophy action which produced the highest collective Performance Points total for the starting five. It includes CJ Gettys with the highest individual Performance Points tally for a player this season and Matt Scott now in the joint-lead for total appearances, alongside a triple-double, and a non-BBL player.
CJ Gettys – Newcastle Eagles
Making his third appearance in a row, Gettys proved far too much for Scottish league side Dunfermline Reign to handle. The seven-footer scored 31 points on 13-18 (72%) inside shooting, adding 19 rebounds. Ten of his points came from his nine offensive boards, as did one of his five assists. He also made his presence felt defensively, with five blocked shots.
Matt Scott – London City Royals
The Brooklyn native makes his fifth appearance after inspiring London City Royals to a successful start in defence of the BBL Trophy. He posted the highest points tally of any player this season as he poured in 42, including hitting 5-10 (50%) three-pointers and 11-12 (91%) at the line. Scott completed a double-double as the league’s best rebounding guard with a huge 16 boards, adding five assists.
Nick Schlitzer – Newcastle Eagles
Making his first appearance, the sharpshooting Italian-American came from the bench to have a career night and finish with a triple-double against Dunfermline. He shot 7-12 (58%) three-pointers on his way to 30 points, tying the most made triples by a player this season, with 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Maxime Djo Ebala – Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks
The French big man makes his first appearance since the second week of the season after coming from the bench to dominate Basketball Wales on Sunday. In just 23 minutes he had a huge double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds, shooting 10-13 (76%), while also dominating the defensive paint with three blocked shots. With Wales leading early on, he had eight of his points within four minutes of coming on to put Rocks up for good.
Travis Charles – Team Solent Kestrels
The NBL Division 1 leaders knocked out the reigning BBL champions, London Lions, in the Trophy first round led by American forward Travis Charles. He shot 12-18 (66%) inside and grabbed 14 rebounds to complete a double-double, adding three blocks and three assists. Kestrels were fast out of the gate and never looked back, with Charles scoring eight points in their first quarter spell.
