All-Star 5 – Week 20

Gentrey Thomas and Parker Jackson-Cartwright lead the BBL All-Star 5 for week 20 after a fascinating personal duel over double-overtime on Saturday night, won by the former while seeing the latter take the outright lead for most appearances so far this season.

Gentrey Thomas – Bristol Flyers
As Bristol prevailed through a double-overtime thriller, Thomas played 46 minutes and posted a game-winning double-double of 32 points and 16 rebounds, along with five assists, two steals and two blocks. He shot 65% from the field and made 4-6 (66%) three-point attempts, one of which helped Flyers level the first overtime period, while he also made a decisive ‘and-one’ play that effectively settled the game with 15 seconds left.

Parker Jackson-Cartwright – Cheshire Phoenix
Almost matching Thomas stride-for-stride that night was Cheshire’s point guard, who makes his sixth appearance in the All-Star 5, the most of any player this season. He had a near triple-double of 31 points, 11 assists and seven steals, shooting 8-11 (72%) inside and 9-10 at the line, to compensate for his three-point shot not dropping on the night.

Jalen Hayes – Cheshire Phoenix
Cheshire bounced back with a Sunday night win in a double-header weekend, inspired by Jalen Hayes off the bench. Sheffield couldn’t handle the American forward as he had 28 points in just 27 minutes, including making 11-13 (84%) at the free-throw line as he drew eight fouls. He added eight rebounds and two assists, and scored his team’s last six points to hold off a late comeback.

Ali Fraser – Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks
Making his fifth appearance of the season, the Scottish big man played all 40 minutes at Emirates Arena on Friday. The Rocks slipped to defeat despite Fraser’s double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while he also showed a great passing touch to add six assists.

Amir Williams – Worcester Wolves
Two of the BBL’s premier big men matched up as Worcester overcame Newcastle Eagles on Friday night, with Amir Williams getting the better of CJ Gettys on this occasion. He had a double-double of 14 points – on just nine field goal attempts – and 11 rebounds, adding two assists and three blocks, with two of those being on his rival Gettys.

Off the bench: Mike Ochereobia (Cheshire Phoenix), CJ Gettys (Newcastle Eagles), Ovie Soko (London Lions), Mackey McKnight (B. Braun Sheffield Sharks), Jordan Williams (Worcester Wolves), Leslee Smith (Plymouth Raiders), Levi Bradley (Bristol Flyers)
