BBL All-Star Five – Week 5

A quartet of players get the nod and make our starting line-up for the first time this season.

Neil Watson (Plymouth Raiders)
It’s the second appearance of the campaign for the point guard, who pulled the strings brilliantly for Raiders as they won on their travels at Manchester. He was too hot to handle for the Giants defence as he came away from the north-west having inked a n eye-catching double-double of 17 points and 13 assists. He also accumulated 3 boards and 3 steals too.

Brandon Boggs (Bristol Flyers)
Boggs produced the best performance of the entire weekend with his standout contribution for Flyers in their big road win at Leeds. He cut down the Force with a jaw-dropping 11 of 13 from the field as he amassed 29 points. He also handed out 5 assists, pulled down 3 boards and snapped up 3 steals for good measure.

Brandon Penn (Plymouth Raiders)
While his team-mate did the business in the backcourt, Penn showed his strength elsewhere on the court for Raiders as they capitalised on a quick-fire start against Giants. The forward underpinned the success with a telling contribution of 28 points, in a nice inside-outside shooting display. A nice line was completed with 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Kieron Achara (Glasgow Rocks)
The Great Britain star showed his qualities at the Emirates Arena as he led the hosts in a comeback victory against Surrey Scorchers. The composure and experience of Achara was vital as Rocks shrugged off a slow start to coast to victory, with the big man adding an all-action 12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks, 2 steals and zero turnovers.

Dallin Bachynski (Worcester Wolves)
Needing some production in the paint, Bachynski duly delivered against Phoenix and his performance was enough to land him a first ever All-Star Five starting berth. The centre came up with a powerful and highly efficient double-double, after pulling down 11 rebounds and scoring 16 points, which were accrued thanks mainly to an excellent 5 of 6 from the floor.

Off the bench – Adam Weary (Bristol Flyers), Momcilo Latinovic (London Lions), Dirk Williams (DBL Sharks Sheffield), Ashton Khan (Worcester Wolves), CJ Gettys (Cheshire Phoenix), Tayo Ogedengbe (Surrey Scorchers), Mike Vigor (Bristol Flyers).
