Tayo is one of the most respected and experienced players in the British Basketball League, he lifted the All-Stars Championship back in 2018 and has been hungry for winning ways since.
“I feel honoured to be returning as captain for my seventh season,” said Tayo.
“I’m definitely most looking forward to playing again in front of fans and winning games. I have always strived to be in a winning team, it’s not always gone in our favour, but starting every season that’s my main goal.”
Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos added, “Tayo will be the first to tell you he was below his own high standards in a mentally difficult Covid season.
“He has returned this off season and put in the hours to be at his best for the Scorchers this campaign.
“Tayo leads by example and I believe if he reaches close to his highest level he will drive us to a good season.”
Seeing more British talent return to the BBL, Tayo said that it would only boost the league and the level of competition within the BBL.
“More British players are considering playing at home which always boosts the league and the level of competition,” he said. “It’s going to be exciting to see how teams gel and what teams are successful.”
