Eagles secure an away victory over Scorchers

BBL Championship

Surrey Scorchers 94-104 Newcastle Eagles (23-26, 42-55, 70-80)
(Scorchers – White 27, Hawthorne 19, Ogedenbe 11; Eagles – Gettys 34, Schlitzer 16, Matthews 12)

It was yet another evening of action packed basketball at Surrey Sports Park on Saturday night, as visitors Newcastle Eagles visited Surrey Scorchers in the BBL Championship.

Despite a strong effort from Skyler White, who picked up a double-double for 27 points and 11 rebounds in his attempt to defend home court, the Eagles flew ahead, picking up a 10 point away victory over the Scorchers, 94-104.

Eagles newbie, and December’s Molten BBL Player of the Month winner, CJ Gettys continued to lead his new team to yet another victory, as he picked up a double-double of 34 points and 19 rebounds, backed by an additional 16 points from Nick Schlitzer.

The win brings to an end to Surrey’s recent run of impressive victories in the Championship as they now currently sit fifth in the Championship standings whilst Newcastle move up into third.
