Flyers and Royals advance to Cup Semi Finals

BBL Cup action in the capital and up in Sheffield saw London City Royals and Bristol Flyers advance to the Semi-Finals
of the Cup, after overcoming Cheshire Phoenix and B. Braun Sheffield Sharks.

The dynamic duo of Matt Scott and Andrew Lawrence commanded the Royals to a massive 18 point win at home, 100-82. Scott tallied 19 points, five rebounds and four assists with Lawrence scoring 21 points and dishing out 13 assists.

The Phoenix closed the gap in the second and third quarter but couldn’t keep pace with the Royals in the fourth. Parker Jackson Cartwright and Ben Mockford where the key men for the Nix, with Jackson-Cartwright chalking another double-double with 20 points and 13 assists. Mockford added 21 points for Cheshire but it wasn’t enough for them to advance.

It was a tough night up North for Sheffield Sharks too, falling at home to Bristol Flyers 58-81.

The two Thomas’, Gentrey and Fred, led from the outset for Bristol, with Gentrey racking up 25 points and Fred adding 15 alongside.

Sheffield struggled from the three-point line during the game, with their top scorer Mackey McKnight knocking down just 16 points, and failed to find any rhythm to continue their BBL Cup campaign.

Both London City Royals and Bristol Flyers will now meet in the BBL Cup Semi-Final, whilst Leicester Riders also meet Worcester Wolves in the other Semi-Final.
