Leeds Force have today announced the signing of veteran wing Ingus Bankevics for the 2017-18 BBL season.
Bankevics has had an extensive career across Europe including two seasons with Manchester Giants in the BBL, where he averaged 16.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game whilst shooting 38% from the perimeter.
The 6’5” Latvian is looking forward to the new challenge and said: “I am really happy to be a part of the Leeds family. I have worked out with Coach Turunen and I feel we could do something special this season.
“It was an easy decision for me to sign for Force and I will do everything to bring wins home for the fans. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Bankevics will provide some experience to the new look Force roster as they prepare for the new BBL season.
Head Coach Mika Turunen thinks Bankevics will have a big impact this season and commented: “Ingus has an impressive basketball pedigree and he matches that with a great attitude to practice.
“He provides us with a versatile option offensively and I have no doubt Force fans will be excited to see him play”
Bankevics becomes Force’s 7th signing of the summer as the club look to build a roster ready to compete throughout the tough BBL season, with more signings are expected in the coming days.
