Manchester Giants came from behind at half time to beat B. Braun Sheffield Sharks 89-77 at the National Basketball Performance Centre on Tuesday night.

The two sides couldn’t be separated after a tight first quarter with the score finely poised at 17-17.

The second quarter saw a flurry of three-pointers with both sides combining to knock down eight triples in a lively second period. Sharks were able to create some daylight between them and their opponents as they went into the halftime break up by six, with the score at 41-35 in the visitor’s favour.

Giants, however, came out a different side in the second half and quickly pegged Sharks back and then raced into a four-point lead by the end of the third quarter.

Giants would then kick on again in the fourth opening up a 12-point lead in the final quarter. Sharks did threaten a comeback, reducing the deficit to four points late on but Giants held on and played out the game comfortably.

Martaveous Mcknight led the scoring for Giants as he finished with a game-high 23 points for the hosts. Jonathan Williams starred for Sharks, contributing 22 points.

The result sees Giants go two points clear at the top of the BBL Cup North Group while Sharks remain in fourth place.
