The SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks picked up their first win of their BBL Trophy campaign after an 86-79 victory over the Everton Tigers at the Braehead Arena on Sunday evening.

In a game where the Rocks never trailed, the home side stretched out to an eleven point lead at 33-22 off the back of three three-pointers from Moritz Wohlers. A 7-2 close to the first half took the Rocks out to a 43-31 lead into the locker rooms at the half.

In the second half, it was the Tigers who came out strong, and an 11-2 run closed the deficit to six points at 48-42, but the Rocks responded immediately with a 7-0 tear to lead 55-42. The Rocks closed out the third period with an 11-2 burst of their own to lead 66-49 going into the final stanza.

In the final period, the Rocks enjoyed their biggest lead of the game at 78-58 with five minutes remaining. A combination of David Aliu and Tony Miller valiantly attempted to get the visitors back into the game, but could not close the deficit fully as the Rocks ran out eventual winners.

Moritz Wohlers led all scorers in the game with 21 points for the Rocks, while Calvin Davis led the Tigers scoring with 18.
