Guede comes home to the capital

London Lions have confirmed that Paul Guede has joined the club following his last two seasons in France.

The 6in 6ft London born forward last played in the BBL for the Worcester Wolves in 2015, averaging 10.5 points 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game as his team finished with a 28 & 10 record, his season high 18 points coming against the clean sweep of Esh Group Eagles Newcastle.

A former pupil at Hackney College, Guede also suited up briefly for the Lions in 2013 after graduating from Portland University. He has spent a lot of time playing in France, as well as the top League in Czech Republic and Pro A in Germany.

Coach Karol has seen Guede in practice and likes what he saw, stating: “He is a multi-dimensional player, and for us he will be a strong defensive forward but he can also handle the ball. He can shoot and he knows where to be on the court, I like the effort he plays with.”

Guede has been flirting with coming back to London and now is the time. He said: “I’m extremely excited about coming home and playing for the London Lions, I’m ready to make this season not only memorable but also an exciting one.”

Lions’ boss, Vince Macaulay added: “I coached Paul with us a few years back for a handful of games and was impressed by his overall demeanour. He’s very professional goes about his business in a good way and being another player from London he’ll really help with the culture at the club.”

Watch out for three more player signings coming this week, as Lions prepare hard for the season, September 22nd we play our home pre-season game against Glasgow at the UEL Sportsdock then we are into action with the British All Stars at the O2 Arena.
