In a big night of BBL Cup action on Friday, a number of important placings were settled in the North Group, while in the South Bristol Flyers remain in the hunt for a home quarter-final as London City Royals confirm top spot despite defeat.
North of the border, Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks prevented B. Braun Sheffield Sharks from winning the North Group with a first win in five games. Greg Pryor (34) and Gareth Murray (30) combined for 64 points, with Murray shooting 7-9 three-pointers, as Rocks won 101-81.
That confirmed Leicester Riders as the winners of the North Group. Meanwhile, Newcastle Eagles will finish in third spot after beating Manchester Giants 104-71 at Eagles Community Arena, behind a huge performance from Sade Aded-Hussein as he went for 22 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Worcester Wolves and Bristol Flyers are in a battle for second place in the South Group, and that is still alive as Flyers used a big defensive performance in the fourth quarter to beat group leaders London City Royals 85-75. They won the fourth 26-10 as captain Daniel Edozie scored six of his 15 points with big plays down the stretch.
Worcester would have confirmed second with a win, and looked like they had it until Tayo Ogedengbe scored on the buzzer for Surrey Scorchers to give them a 78-77 upset win on the road, Ogedengbe scoring 22 in total.
