BBL hits social media milestones
As a sold-out crowd enjoyed the BBL Playoff Final at Wembley Arena on Sunday, the British Basketball League reached a significant milestone by surpassing 10,000 followers of the official league account on the social networking platform Twitter.
"Reaching 10,000 followers is a great achievement, and really underlines the focus we're putting into our work online," said BBL Chief Operating Officer Andy Webb. "Twitter, in particular, is a platform where we can really interact with our fans and get feedback from them, and we've worked hard to try and engage the basketball community through it."
In addition to the Twitter milestone views on the official BBL YouTube channel also broke through the 100,000 barrier during the playoffs, despite the channel having only been set up in the middle of last season.
"Online video is another area that we're putting a real focus on and reaching 100,000 views shows the appetite for it," added Webb. "Expect more from us in that area next season."
