Lavandier adds some French flair

The Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks have secured the services of French big man Maxime Djo Ebala for the 2019-20 BBL Season.

The Frenchman has spent the last four seasons playing in France including two seasons under the leadership of current Rocks Coach Vincent Lavandier.

And the newest member of the Rocks arrives in Glasgow to another familiar face in Gareth Murray, having played together with French side Angers in the 2015-16 Season.

Upon signing, Maxime said: “I am very happy to come to Glasgow and wear the colours of the Rocks this year. I am looking forward to arriving in Scotland and starting this new adventure.”

And Coach Lavandier was delighted to reunite with Maxime in Glasgow: “My desire was to densify our racket compared to last year. My choice was to recruit a tall player who is very mobile, with a big wingspan that will be the perfect complement to Ali at the 5 Position.

“Maxime played with Gareth under my orders in France. He is a team player, a hard worker, with good hands and an outside shot.

“He is also able to change the vision of a match by his defensive actions & his energy. I’m happy to add Maxime to my team. He is a man of confidence for a whole team, a whole staff.”

With the latest signing the Rocks roster now stands at 10, with more exciting news to be announced in the coming weeks.
