B. Braun Sheffield Sharks tonight have confirmed their fifth signing in British forward Joe Mvuezolo Jr.
The 25-year-old is no stranger to the BBL with stints at Surrey Scorchers and Leicester Riders but more recently has represented Dragons Rhoendorf in Germany Pro B, Ece Bulls Kapfenberg in Austria, as well as CB Moron and CD Idea Algeciras in Spain’s LEB Silver.
Mvuezolo began his basketball education at London’s Barking Abbey before heading off to Montana State University in the U.S., where he was on court for over twenty minutes per game in his senior year.
Last season in Spain he averaged 8.6 points per game with two rebounds and one steal, shooting a productive 84.6% from the free throw line.
Mvuezolo is known as a versatile player, who can play multiple positions and this, coupled with his athleticism are key reasons why the Sharks have pursued his signature.
“Joe can play on both ends of the floor, has talent as a solid defender from the help side and is a great rim protector,” said Sharks Head Coach Atiba Lyons.
“His signing gives us size, athleticism and depth, which are attributes that will prove invaluable to us in the coming season.”
The 6’6” Londoner joins Mike Tuck, Jordan Ratinho, Marcus Delpeche and Aaron Anderson as the Sharks continue to build their roster for the 2021-22 BBL season.
