✍️ Niem Stevenson joins Leicester Riders out of Texas Tech

Leicester Riders have signed American Niem Stevenson out of Texas Tech University ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Stevenson joins from Texas Tech where he averaged 7.5 points per games alongside 3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in his final season as a collegiate athlete.

Stevenson recorded a season-high of 24 points against West Virginia including five 3-pointers in that outing, in his final year at Texas Tech.

Head Coach Paternostro is excited to add Niem to the roster for next season.

“We are excited to add a player like Niem to our roster,” commented Coach Paternostro. “He is an explosive, exciting player who can do a little bit of everything on the basketball court.

“He played on a really good Texas Tech team and I really enjoyed watching them play last season, they played tough on both ends of the floor and Niem excelled in his role.

“He has good size and length in the backcourt and had a really good season on defence guarding many different types of players in that conference, which was very impressive.”

Texas Tech will have a strong presence in the British Basketball League this season as Stevenson’s teammate Justin Gray will join the Flyers roster for 2018-19.

Stevenson will join the rest of the group in action in August ahead of taking on the USA Select that has recently been rescheduled for Friday 31 August at the Morningside Arena.
