Cheshire Phoenix this morning announced that point-guard Disraeli “Dizzie” Lufadeju has re-signed with the club for the 2020-21 season after he agreed to activate his second year of a two-year contract clause.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a successful second season with Phoenix, featuring in 13 of the side’s matches with four starts, averaging 6.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game during last season.
A popular figure with young fans, Dizzie will also take on a more prominent role in the community, spearheading all the club’s community initiatives throughout the North West.
“I’m really excited to be signing again with Cheshire Phoenix because I feel like I have started to establish myself a little bit more in the league and I’m very comfortable here,” said Lufadeju.
“I know what to expect and since I’ve been here I have progressed as a player, so I am excited to progress even more and hopefully win some silverware.”
Coach Ben Thomas added, “I’m really happy to have Dizzie back with us, he has improved a lot over the last couple of seasons and we know there is much more to come.
“His work rate during games is always really good but it is away from the games when you really see how much he wants to perform for the team. I know this is what has made him a fan favourite over the last couple of seasons and we are expecting much of the same next season.”
