Currently on the brink of landing another BBL Championship title and having pocketed the BBL Trophy yet again, Rob Paternostro has had his efforts with Leicester Riders recognised by way of the Molten BBL Coach of the Month award for March.
The period started off with that cherished piece of Trophy silverware going back into the Riders’ cabinet as they outlasted DBL Sharks Sheffield 90-85 in a classic match-up. It was one which thrilled those at the Emirates Arena and thousands more watching Live on BBC Sport, FreeSports and Unilad.
Paternostro then guided his side to a hat-trick of league wins – the first coming at home to Cheshire Phoenix as Riders came from behind to register a 97-84 success.
They then showed the heart, resolve and quality required of a Championship side as they dug out a memorable 88-90 overtime road victory against Glasgow Rocks.
Rounding off a fruitful and unbeaten month, Leicester celebrated a 92-80 win against nearest challengers Esh Group Eagles Newcastle to take a seriously large stride towards cementing a successful title defence.
Paternostro fought off competition from Vince Macaulay of London Lions who won more games than any other coach with an impressive 5-1 record.
