Rob Paternostro has further cemented his status as one of the most successful coaches in British Basketball history after he was named the Ed Percival Molten BBL Coach of the Year for the fifth time of his illustrious career.
The play-caller was recognised for taking Leicester Riders to their third BBL Championship title in a row, while also landing BBL Trophy silverware as well.
His latest accolade also sees him land the prestigious gong for a third consecutive campaign, taking the honour in both 2015-16 and 2016-17.
“I always say it’s a team award and you know your side have played well and have come up big in the big situations,” reflected Paternostro.
“I’m so proud of our guys and I’m lucky to have worked with them.”
Most notably, he is also now level with the legendary and late Kevin Cadle, as well as Fab Flournoy MBE on five awards.
He added: “It’s incredible company to be with. Kevin was a good friend and good mentor, I spoke with him often and he was a big influence on me and on my career. Meanwhile Fab has been an incredible guy to compete against during my career.”
