Pierre Hampton has fond memories of playing at The O2 after earning the MVP award in last year’s Final to secure a historic treble for Leicester Riders.
History could repeat itself on Sunday with the Swedish forward looking to help the Riders add to their Championship and Trophy titles already won this season.
“Winning MVP was truly a blessing,” Hampton reflected.
“The Play-Offs are always exciting times, especially the Final at The O2.
“The arena, the crowd, the atmosphere is electrifying – last year was fantastic for us and hopefully we can duplicate that.
Leicester battled a number of injuries and international absentees throughout the season, but were still able to defend their league title with an impressive 28-5 record.
And, Hampton puts it down to the team ethic of the side and their continued strength on the defensive end of the court.
“We are a selfless team yet again but also our defence and our stamina throughout the year has been excellent.
“And like always, Coach [Rob Paternostro] always has us prepared week in, week out.”
Hampton admits he has been impressed with London Lions ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated Final and believes his side will have to be wary of the threats they possess.
“London Lions have been really good this year and I think this is a game that people want to see.
“What jumps off the page right now is that we need to match their intensity and take care of the ball.
“We will also have to stop some of their key guys.”
