Ahead of today’s BBL Play-Off Final, we asked around the league to get the thoughts of Mike Ojo, Brandon Boggs and Mike Tuck.
Leicester Riders and London Lions compete for the final piece of silverware up for grabs in the 2017-18 season.
Mike Ojo, Worcester Wolves
“Leicester and London face off in the most anticipated game of the year.
“Both teams match up extremely well, yet team depth and experience favour the Riders. Having a core group of players that have already felt the success of raising silverware and the league’s best ranked defence, they definitely have an advantage.
“Look for Pierre Hampton to try and leave his mark on the game on the heels of a below average performance against Bristol.
“But don’t count Robinson and the Lions out. Supported by Cory Dixon and Brandon Peel, they have shown that they have no fear of the Riders and there prior success. They match up best against Leicester’s three headed monster of Bernardi, Holder and Hampton.
“With all that being said, my heart wants to roll with the Lions taking the victory – it would be an excellent story. The capital city team winning a Championship in their own yard, starting one of the better British guards of all time. It sounds great! But my head tells me the Riders will come away with the win.”
Brandon Boggs, Bristol Flyers
“Today’s Play-Off Final is going to be very competitive.
“Two of the most consistent teams throughout the season going head to head – I can’t wait to see the result.”
Mike Tuck, DBL Sharks Sheffield
“This has to be one of the most exciting Finals that I can remember in recent history.
“Very evenly matched teams – their 3-3 record against each other this season says it all – stacked teams that possess a great mix of experience and athleticism.
“Justin Robinson is an experienced floor general that can find his team-mates, knock it down from long range, and natural leader for this team.
“For Leicester, JR Holder is someone that when he is playing well the whole team follows – a guy that can do a bit of everything, very crafty getting to the basket and finishing.”
