Coach James said: “I’m delighted we have been able to secure Shawn for the coming season. He is a long athletic guard forward who can play in multiple positions at both ends of the court.
“Shawn is a player who will bring a great work ethic and attitude, qualities that we are going to need to improve on the performances from last season. A strong and tenacious defender, who runs the floor very well in transition finishing in many different ways.
“I’m really looking forward to welcoming Shawn to the Raiders and getting started with him and the rest of the team.”
Shelton, from Bloomfield, Connecticut, averaged 6.5 points per game along with 3.9 rebounds in his senior year at Eastern New Mexico, where he impressed coaches with his attitude, work ethic and high basketball IQ.
New recruit, Shelton said: “I would like to thank the Plymouth Raiders organisation and Coach James for giving me this opportunity to play in England for this team and community.
“I am very excited to be part of the team and will work hard to utilise my talents alongside my
teammates to ensure that we have a great season. Go Raiders!”
Shelton is the third Raiders’ signing of the summer alongside Denzel Ubiaro and Josh Wilcher, with more announcements to follow in the coming weeks.
