The first two teams into the BBL Cup semi-finals are Leicester Riders and Worcester Wolves after a pulsating pair of games on Friday night resulted in home wins in the Midlands.

Riders trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half but stormed the third quarter to beat the holders, London Lions, 72-63. After the break they hit 18 of the first 20 points scored, including back-to-back triples from Nahmon Wright in a four minute spell to snatch a lead that they then wouldn’t relinquish.

Elsewhere, the 2018 runners-up, Worcester, could hardly be separated from Newcastle Eagles as Wolves prevailed 90-86 late on, scoring the final five points of the game inside the last two minutes. Jordan Williams made the go-ahead bucket as he finished with 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
