Royals announce new coaching setup

London City Royals have appointed Lloyd Gardner as the new Head Coach and Daniel James as Associate Head Coach for the 2019-20 season.

With a rich history in and around British Basketball, Lloyd has worked with Barking Abbey School to produce an array of talented players, some of which have played in the BBL.
Lloyd has vast experience with the GB Basketball setup with his most recent role being assistant coach under Tony Garbelloto with the GB senior men’s team.

Daniel has heaps of experience under his belt which will stand him in good stead for his new role in the BBL. Throughout his time around sport Daniel has helped to develop grassroots basketball across China, Senegal and England – working in conjunction with sports charities to achieve their goal.

“I am very excited to continue with last year’s momentum and help push British Basketball forward and for the chance to work with and nurture grassroots basketball here in London with the London City Royals community outreach programmes,” said Daniel.

“I am ecstatic to have been given this opportunity with the London City Royals and all in all, I am looking forward to getting the 2019-20 season underway and I hope that everyone can get behind us to serve as the engine pushing towards positivity, sustainability, growth and of course, a BBL Championship!”
