London City Royals claimed a historic BBL Trophy Final victory with a thrilling 90-82 overtime victory over London Lions, at Emirates Arena.

The Royals earn a first piece of BBL silverware, in their first appearance in a final, in what has been a spectacular debut season. The wait for Trophy success for the Lions continues, as the team miss out on the chance to add to the Cup title they won earlier in the year.

Leading scorers – Matthew Bryan-Amaning 26, Ashley Hamilton 25, Will Neighbour 12 (Royals); Justin Robinson 20, Ladarius Tabb / Brandon Peel 17 (Lions)

Turning point – A late Ed Lucas three to tie the game, in the dying seconds of regulation, gave the Royals all the momentum heading into overtime. The Royals exploded to life to start the extra period, scoring the first six points to take control of the game.

Key stat – The Royals found more joy under the basket and shot the ball with a much greater efficiency than the Lions, connecting on half of their field goal attempts.

Game hero(es) – Hamilton was key to the Royals success, scoring 25 points and adding 14 rebounds. Bryan-Amaning also stole the show for the winners, netting 26 points to go along with eight rebounds, seven assists and four blocks.
