After three games in the BBL Cup on Saturday night, London City Royals remain the only unbeaten team in the BBL, while Surrey Scorchers scored a first win of the campaign and Leicester Riders took a big step towards qualification.
In the South, Surrey were led by Captain Tayo Ogedengbe’s 24 points as they beat London Lions 80-77. Scorchers had led by as many as 21 points, but trailed heading into the final minute until Adrian Kuyinu hit a huge off-balance three-pointer to send the home fans into raptures and settle the game.
Meanwhile, Royals beat Worcester Wolves 77-64 to make it six wins out of six, as they dominated the second quarter with Orlan Jackman (9 points) and Darjus Lavrinovic (8) combining during that spell, while Matt Scott led the way on 21 points.
Finally, in the North Group, Leicester Riders overpowered an undermanned Manchester Giants by 102-70 to join Sheffield Sharks on five wins. British forward Jesse Chuku was a perfect 10-10 from the field on his way to 21 points.
