Surrey Scorchers have awarded Jeremy Nanton-Hamel a contract for the 2019-20 BBL season.
Born in Chertsey, and living in the Caribbean and France before returning to Surrey, the 20 year old, 6’8″ Power Forward and Centre featured in five BBL games last season.
“I’ve been training and developing with Coach Creon for the past two years now, and this is an excellent opportunity for me,” said Nanton-Hamel. “This feels like a big step, because I hope to take a more important role in the team and continue my development.
“I only really thought about becoming a professional basketball player two years ago, when I realised that I could go somewhere (in my career).
“I used to be a swimmer and only started playing basketball when I was 15, but I’ve worked hard for the last two years to get to this level and now I want to keep going as far as I can. I think I bring some energy to the team, I’m quite quick for a guy my size, spacing out the floor and increasing the range.
“I’m really looking forward to playing in front of all the Scorchers fans, and hopefully I can get a consistent role in the team and some minutes under my belt – that’s my first objective.”
