Sharks bite back, Rocks keep rolling at home

DBL Sharks Sheffield bounced back from their Trophy Final defeat as they got back to winning ways in the league.

The Sharks defeated Cheshire Phoenix 88-81 to climb into fourth spot behind a 31-point haul from Chris Alexander.

“You get that close to silverware and fall just short that you have a situation where you capitulate and fall apart or you get motivated and do it again,” said Atiba Lyons.

“These guys are definitely motivated, hungry and re-focused and it’s a pleasure coaching them.”

Glasgow Rocks recorded their eighth straight league victory at home as they improved to 16-8 with an entertaining 89-85 triumph over Cheshire.

It was a second loss on the weekend for the Nix as their Play-Off hopes took a blow with Gareth Murray’s late triple helping secure the win for the Rocks.

Esh Group Eagles Newcastle kept up the pressure on league leaders Leicester Riders with a convincing 104-79 victory over Plymouth Raiders.

Jaysean Paige led the way with 25 points with Zarko Jukic adding 18 points with six players in total in double figures, while Drew Lasker hauled down 14 boards.

Also, Worcester Wolves eased to a 100-69 win at home to Leeds Force with Alejandro Navajas top scoring with 20 points.

There is still one fixture to be played this week as London Lions host Bristol Flyers on Tuesday evening.
