Surrey Scorchers 96-99 Leicester Riders (26-29, 50-48, 75-72)
(Scorchers – Cook 27, Ogendengbe 20, Bryan-Amaning 17; Riders – Johnson 32, Wright 15, Nelson-Henry 15)
More BBL Championship action continued on Saturday night as Surrey Scorchers locked horns with Leicester Riders for the first time this season in what proved to be a dramatically close game.
Just three points separated the two teams as Riders took the away victory over Scorchers, 96-99
The game could’ve very well gone to Surrey but the home side fell short of a win at the very last minute, despite big plays from leading scorer Lovell Cook who racked up 27 points himself assisted by his team captain Tayo Ogendengbe, who added 20 points to the scoreboard.
In an almighty fourth quarter, the Riders maintained a strong defence, backed by a staggering 32 points from Corey Johnson, who continues to impress since joining the Riders just under a month ago, and a key 11 assists from Jordan Spencer.
