Williams dunk goes global and opens up BBL GOAT debate

High flying DBL Sharks Sheffield star, Dirk Williams is gaining global recognition for his spectacular throw down last night as he took his team to a thrilling overtime victory against Surrey Scorchers.

His poster dunk came during the extra period when he went coast-to-coast before bringing down the hammer and within minutes of completing the play, it caught fire on social media.

As well as attracting plenty of interest on BBL Channels and via #BritishBasketball the dunk has also made it’s way to the likes of @sportscenter which has 35.5 million followers; and, 7,500 of them had liked the spectacular play within a couple of hours.

It has also opened up the debate as to whether this is the BBL GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) Dunk.

Fans will be excited that Williams will be playing in the live BBC Sport game this Friday 19 January against Esh Group Eagles Newcastle. He will also take part in the 2018 BBL Dunk Contest which will take place at the British Basketball Cup Finals on Sunday 28 January at Arena Birmingham.
